The grass I planted about two weeks ago in the backyard is starting to
fill in. I'm expecting that it will eventually blend in with the rest
of the yard.
Today I squirted some glue in the
crack in the header
at the top of the cricket in the roof, jacked it up, and screwed it
together. Then I also glued and screwed a pair of short boards over
the cracked spot. It's far from perfect, but I think it's about the
best I could do without major surgery.
Here's a shot of an old wasp(?) nest we found above one of the windows
in the attic room. I'm glad it was no longer active when we pulled
the paneling out.
By Sunday evening, we had patched most of the worst spots on the
rafters. Mostly, I just wanted to span the cracks and bad knots with
a second board.
Now we can insulate at least part of the room. That should help the
comfort level in this room given the warm temps we've had lately.
I started installing the insulation in the attic room roof.
I built some supports for the platform that we will put on the side
porch roof so we can start working on the siding and trim on the end
of the house way up high. Not pictured here are two frames for part
of the platform.
We got a bit of a late start today, but managed to get some of the
supports up on the roof. This part of the platform is 4 feet wide and
16 feet long. Next we will have to build a tower to the right of the
porch so we can extend the platform about another 12 feet out to the
other edge of the house. Then to reach the peak of the roof, we will
need another platform on top of this one, about 7 or 8 feet high.
